About Red Sneakers for Oakley

Red Sneakers for Oakley (RSFO) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit established in 2016 after Oakley Debbs tragically passed away due to an anaphylactic allergic reaction. RSFO is grounded in the sense that education is desperately needed between allergists, hospitals, first-responders, parents, schools, and the general public. The foundation has dedicated its resources to education and advocacy for food allergy awareness to save lives across the globe.

RSFO utilizes two programs to further its mission to provide life saving resources and education. Every $1 donated is split evenly to fund these two programs.

RSFO “Days” Program

The RSFO Days Program utilizes food allergy statistics and educational resources to help spread food allergy awareness amongst schools, workplaces, and other communities. The Days Program encourages participation in Red Sneaker Days, a “day” when everyone wears their red sneakers/shoes (or anything red) and participates together to raise awareness for the dangers of food allergies. The RSFO Days Program teaches what a food allergy is, why food allergies are dangerous and should be taken seriously, how to recognize a mild and severe allergic reaction, what anaphylaxis is and what to do in case of anaphylaxis. Many Red Sneaker Days involve soccer games, field days, tennis tournaments, educational assemblies, PSA viewings, food allergy book readings, art projects, and many more. RSFO provides digital resources, physical materials and planning support for those hosting a Red Sneaker Day. The Days Program has participation from 100+ schools and communities worldwide.

The Days Program includes the RSFO Ambassador Program. RSFO Ambassadors inspire, educate and empower their peers to understand the physical and social impact of food allergies.

They teach peers how to confidently take action during an allergic reaction, and advocate for safety and acceptance for those who suffer from food allergies. RSFO Ambassadors spearhead Red Sneaker Days within their own communities.
